Bryan Creek Levee and Drainage Upgrades, Coleraine

The township of Coleraine has experienced a number of major floods in the last few decades. Starting from 2016, SGSC and their flood modeller worked with the CMA to negotiate flood mitigation strategies for the town in the form of an earthen levee and flood wall along Bryan Creek.

Partnear was engaged in 2024 to carry out the detailed design for the proposed levee based on the aforementioned flood modelling. We worked with Council and our suppliers to generate a set of detailed design documents with a cost estimate for the extensive drainage and levee works required to achieve the flood modeller’s requirements.

The detailed design model for this project was large and detailed. Our design included a 1km long levee which is accessible by emergency vehicles along the entire length of the levee. We proposed two detention basins to contain the gap stormwater flow generated in the township while Bryan Creek is flooding. The distributed drainage improvement components were linked together with drainage asset upgrades and bypass trunk drainage infrastructure work.
